What is topdressing?

Top dressing your lawn is beneficial when it needs a boost of nutrients, has low spots or contains holes. It can also help if your turf preparation was a little rushed or if there is not much soil underneath the turf.

Why should I top dress my lawn?

If your lawn is well fertilised, healthy and even, you do not need to worry about top dressing.

However, Topdressing does aid in correcting lawn unevenness, poor draining soils and soils that lack nutrients.

Topdressing can also reduce the accumulation of dead grass clippings and stems also known as “Thatch”. If your lawn drains poorly, topdressing with sandy soil can assist with drainage, disease and pest resistance.

What is the Turfco topdressing service?

Turfco has custom made 1m³ bins that attach to our forklift which mean we can deliver the top dress mix right to your lawn minimising mess from material being dumped on a driveway. Our team will supply and spread top dress material over your lawn as seen in the video above. Our Top dress mix has been blended to be a clean, sandy mix with screened organic material giving you the perfect boost for your lawn saving you the time and stress by letting the Turf Experts do it for you. All that needs to be done prior to our arrive is a low mow over the entire area and if you can collect the clippings that would be a great help, the low mow will make it easier to spread the top dress mix.
